During winter, your body skin tends to be dry, itchy and scaly. Dry skin is always prone to become more tanned and turn darker, therefore extra care is needed during winter. So, with a little change in your skincare regime, you can fight winter woes and sail through the season in style.
In winters, we all know it is important to moisturise. What most people do not know is that it is very important to exfoliate and use a sunscreen in winter as well.
Avoid soaps and use body washes, shower gels, and face washes. Make sure you refrain from using strong products such as scented soaps and products with high chemical content.
Wash your skin with a mild moisturising face wash. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30-50, which suits the Indian skin. Apart from that, make sure your sunscreen has moisturiser as well. When moving outdoors, apply sunscreen again, just before you move out.
Wash your face frequently, since pollution has ill effects on dry skin. But make sure you apply sufficient amount of moisturiser after washing to do away with dryness.
Keep a small bottle of moisturiser with you and dab some on your face at least thrice a day. Also, use a moisturising body lotion or cold cream for the body immediately after taking a shower.
Lip careGood lip balms with SPF factor are available in the market. Check the labels on the balm to make sure.
Grandma's recipe: Apply pure homemade ghee on your chapped lips; the result is soft and supple lips. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Hair careUse a mild conditioner and shampoo -- one without harsh colours, chemicals and scents. Anti-dandruff shampoos can be harsh and they tend to make the scalp scaly; so skip those completely.
Go in for a deep conditioning treatment or protein treatment to a professional salon once a week, or once in two weeks. It may cost you anywhere between Rs 800-1500.
Use leave-in conditioners or hair serums regularly to keep your tresses smooth and supple.
Foot careDon't neglect your feel during winters. Just before bed, wash your feet thoroughly and apply foot cream.
