KK, welcome to Indya Online!
KK: Hey Divya, Thank you so much, I have never heard so many good things said about me at one go!
Divya: How does it feel to be with your online fans? KK: It feels great! I think this is the first time I am doing something like this, an online chat with the girl right across. It feels very very good!
Divya: Thank you! KK's Dus Bahane to be a singer... KK: Well, I can't think of bahanaas as I had no other option (laughs).
Divya: Apka dil samandhar to all your fans or just the female fans? KK: Ahh! You are putting words into my mouth now... Well honestly, it has to be to all my fans.
Divya: How did the journey of being a successful singer begin? KK: Well it started in Delhi I would say. I have not had any training in music though... After college, there were a lot of cross roads and finally my wife helped me make the decision of moving to Mumbai and for a career in singing.
Divya: Bollywood without music would be... KK: Colourless
Divya: Colourless or KK less rather!? KK: (laughs) There are umpteen singers who are much better than I am!
Divya: Share the secret with us, your favourite music director... KK: S D Burman
Divya: Your favourite singer in Bollywood... KK: Kishore Kumar
Divya: If not a singer you would be... KK: I think I would be a marine biologist!
Divya: And you would sing for the fishes down there? KK: Yes! I would sound like a whale then! (laughs)
Divya: Himesh Reshammiya - your comments KK: He is a great guy and a good friend. Right now he is ruling the roost. He has a very unorthodox voice which is why he is right there on top and everybody is loving him so much. But I feel he must just take a little break.
(KK sings Himesh Reshamiyya's composition in Ahista Ahista, Tere ishq ne...)
Divya: Tell us more about your forthcoming album KK: Well, I am working on it right now Divya... Mehboob who wrote the lyrics for my first album Pal and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is writing for my second album too. I think he is brilliant. Divya: How does your morning begin? KK: First thing I do is to go get rid of the bad breath! Then a cup of tea in my balcony, we live on the 12th floor and it is nice and breezy! Divya: The most embarrassing moment of your life KK: When I was a kid, we used to go to swim and one day I had my swimming trunks on and I think they were a bit loose they came off when I dived into the water. (laughs)
Divya: Your favourite past time... KK: Oh, without fail going for long drives. In fact, I just got back from Pune.
Divya: Your favourite hangout... KK: Home!
Divya: Your favourite holiday destination... KK: It invariably comes to Goa
Divya: Your favourite food... KK: Rajma Chawal
Divya: Where do you live? KK: I have been in Mumbai for the past 10 years now.
Divya: How do you feel about your success... KK: As a singer one must pour your heart out and that's how you connect to the people or fans who listen to you. I have heard people say that my songs actually soothes their mind! That's great. Also, I think God has given me this voice with a reason.
Divya: Have you ever been deeply in love with someone? KK: Yes, the one and only love of my life - my wife!
Divya: What is the one thing that you regret in life till date? KK: Nothing.
Divya: Tell me one thing, have you ever met one of your craziest fans? KK: There are lots of them... There was this one guy who...
Divya: We are talking about the girls and not the boys! KK: Oh ok! But I normally don't get the opportunity to interact with the fans... But I do get lots of Emails which I check once in a while.
Divya: How would you celebrate your birthday this August 23? KK: It will be with some very close friends and family.
Divya: KK, a message to all your fans out there! Madhavan: Hi this is KK on indya.com. And my message to you all would be - be happy in life and listen to great music. God bless!
