Movie Review: Good Luck

There are bad films and then there is Good Luck. One must be really unlucky to watch this film.

Stay Away

Genre: Comedy

Director: Aaditya Dutt

Cast: Ranvir Shorey, Lucky Ali. Aryemaan, Archana Puran Singh, Sayali Bhagat

Rating: 1 on 5

I do not understand Bollywood's obsession with mediocre English films. Just My Luck (2006) starring Lindsay Lohan was not a great flick. This year, Kismat Konnection was loosely based on it and Good Luck is a carbon copy lacking Lindsay's charm.

The movie begins with Vicky (Aryemaan) dancing like Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2 in his dream. In reality, he is an out of work singer. Then we move on to Saba Sharma (Sayali Bhagat), who is over confident about her good luck charm. She clinches a deal with the 'time-is-money' mouthing music producer Tarun Chopra (Lucky Ali) for her hyper boss, Kanchan Soni (Nazneen). At a party, Kanchan hooks up with gigolo Jaaved (Ranvir Shorey) and Saba kisses Vicky, transferring all her good luck to him. She loses her job while Vicky gets a record deal with Tarun Chopra. Tarot reader Archana Puran Singh tells Saba she must kiss Vicky to get lucky again. What follows is complete chaos as everyone wants the good-luck-kiss.

This movie is utter torture for the viewer. The music by Anu Malik is terrible. The production values are quite tacky where a Greek-themed party looks like a Masquerade Ball. The dialogue is cheap and crude; the slapstick comedy is an insult to the viewer's intellect. The few special effects are poorly done. You will laugh at the movie, not with it. The in-film branding is especially silly. It drags in spite of being 2 hours long, especially the climax where everyone is fighting for a 'kiss from the miss.'

Don't even get me started on the bad acting. Lucky Ali should concentrate on his singing career because we love his husky vocals. He looks old now and if he wants to act, he must pick better roles.

Ranvir Shorey has two releases this week; the other being Singh is Kinng. I just hope he has a better role in Singh is Kinng. Sayali Bhagat should look at an alternate profession because she is a pathetic actress. Debutante Aryemaan has a dazed, sleepy expression throughout and he isn't a good dancer either.

All in all, don't waste your money on this trash.
