There are some films that you know are going to make it big at the box office even before you have seen the first frame. And Singh is Kinng was one of those movies. It had everything going for it – a hit actor, a hit actress, a director on a roll a producer who has had immense luck with his leading actor and actress.

So did the film live up to the expectation of maximum entertainment?

Hell Yes!

First the story: Akshay Kumar plays Happy Singh – a village bumpkin in Punjab who causes chaos and mayhem wherever he goes. Now, fed up with his constant trouble, the villagers hatch a plan of packing Happy Singh off. Another son of the soil Luck Singh (Sonu Sood) has gone to Australia but has become an underworld don and so brought shame to Sikhs everywhere. Nicknamed the King, Lucky is known for creating terror and finishing anybody who comes in his way. The villagers use Happy's emotional side to convince him to go to Australia and bring back Lucky to meet his aging parents.

And so off goes Happy and Rangeela (Om Puri) – the only villager who can speak English and will ensure that Happy reaches the King only to be thrown out in less than three minutes. Lucky is in no mood to go up. However the following day Happy finds himself in the middle of a situation where he risks his life to save Lucky from being killed by other gangs after his life. But the incident leaves Lucky paralyzed and our Happy steps into his shoes as King.

However, on the other hand, he meets Rose lady (Kirron Kher) on his first day in Australia who takes him into his home and gives him food. So when Happy who is now Kinng finds Rose lady in trouble, he goes all out to solve her problems. But they only get worse as he finds himself in love with Rose lady's daughter Sonia (Katrina Kaif) who is already engaged to Puneet (Ranvir Shorey).

So what happens next? Will he be able to change the hardened criminals to leave their notorious activities and return to Punjab like the honourable Sikhs they are? And what about his lady love? That's something you need to see the film to find out.

Acting wise Akshay Kumar comes up trumps as is expected. Katrina is loving her place at the top of Bollywood and it shows. She is looking extremely comfortable on screen and her dancing and dialogue delivery has improved by leaps and bounds. But what has come as a complete surprise package is Sonu Sood's performance. The actor is definitely going to find himself with innumerable offers on his plate. He stands his own despite sharing screen space with Akki. The rest of the supporting cast – Sudhanshu, Jaaved, Yashpal, Manoj – have all done a great job. Kirron Kher pulls out a lovable performance while Neha Dhupia does a good job.

Credit should also be given to director Anees Bazmi for ensuring that the audience won't be bored at any point during the film. Also he has ensured that all the characters are well fleshed out and everyone has got their due screen time which couldn't have been an easy job considering the huge line up.

Whether you are a Sardar in Toronto or Punjab or an uber cool cinema enthusiast in a metro, you will love the clean and straight fun that Singh is Kinng sends your way. And Akshay Kumar will be King of Bollywood after this one for sure!
