God Tussi Great Ho is the story of a journalist called Arun Prajapati (Salman Khan). The poor lad suffers from what we often term as bad luck hee kharab. Constantly losing out on opportunities, AP as he is affectionately called, finds himself at the short end of the stick every time. From things going wrong on his very first day of his show to not being able to tell the girl he loves Alia (Priyanka Chopra) about his true feelings to struggling in his everyday routine. And for all that goes wrong in his life there is only one person AP blames – God. To make matters worse he has his retired father (Anupam Kher) at home who won't let him forget his shortcomings.
If his bad luck wasn't bad enough, in walks Rocky (Sohail Khan) – budding journalist returned from London who joins the channel. He manages to impress the boss and Alia (Priyanka Chopra). Soon enough AP loses his job and that is literally the last straw for him where he lets his true feelings about God be known.

The next day he gets a call and the voice at the other end requests him to meet him on the 18th floor of a hotel. But when he gets there he only hears a voice but doesn't see the person. The voice introduces himself as God. Quite sure that someone is playing a joke; AP walks off in a huff. At the reception he asks 'Can you tell me the name of the person living on the 18th floor in 1801?' The receptionist turns around and says that the hotel only has 15 floors. So there is no question of a guest on the 18th floor. Now believing that something is definitely amiss, AP returns to the life and gets transported directly to Heaven where he comes face to face with God (Amitabh Bachchan). On hearing his complaints about God, the Almighty decides to make AP God for ten days. He gives him all his powers to do as he pleases and prove that he can run the world better than god has so far.
Overjoyed with this turn of events, AP returns back to Earth to set back all that has gone wrong in his life. From getting back his job to wooing Alia, AP's life begins to go great guns. However, on the ninth day, God makes an appearance to let him know that it is his last 24 hours as God and to take stock of what AP has done for mankind. AP promises to do everything for mankind and so the next day he begins to tune in to the wishes of the average man. But obviously it's too hard for him to listen to millions of them considering he has only 24 hours and so he turns around and says that every wish of every individual should be granted. What happens after that is what the rest of the film is about.

That God Tussi Great Ho is based on the Hollywood film Bruce Almighty is a known fact. But what is commendable is that director Rumi Jafry has pulled it off without making it look like you are seeing the entire English film for the second time. Salman Khan has done a great job and once again his comic timing with brother Sohail Khan is fantastic. Priyanka Chopra looks out of sorts in the film and her look is a let down. Amitabh Bachchan although in a short role, packs a punch. In his white get up as God, he snaps up your attention and pulls off his role without appearing like he is giving a sermon. And do watch out for the ending – a nice surprise by the Big B!
Rumi Jafry has definitely spent great hours as far as animation and special effects in the film are concerned. In terms of showing Heaven and Earth, the effects have worked well.
All in all God Tussi Great Ho is a good time pass film. It should find a great draw in kids and adults alike.
