The only problem with Summer 2007 is that it is way too long! Barring that, it is worth watching once!
Summer 2007 revolves around 5 carefree medical students played by Sikandar, Uvika, Gul, Alekh and Arjan. They are super rich and super spoilt. Drinking, smoking, smoking up, sleeping around and wanting to sleep around! While Sikandar's character Rahul thinks people should solve their own problems, Gul's character Mother T wants to serve and save humanity! Similarly, Uvika's Priyanka is the hottest chick in college, Arjan plays suave womanizer Qateel and Alekh's character Bhagani is a desperado.
Life is fun until they go to Vidharbha, Maharashtra for their mandatory month long rural service. They intend to go to Goa from there but these plans are forgotten as they get entwined in the penniless reality, misery and corruption of rural life. The characters they meet, Mukhiya (Ashuotsh rana), Sankhaya (Sachin Khedekar), Wagh ( Vikram Gokhale) change their values and the course of their lives forever.

Summer 2007 has positive attributes aplenty. It has a very strong subject and kudos to the director, Suhail Tatari who chose to make his debut with an issue based film. It is very well researched and the Marathi dialogues add authenticity to the movie.
The social life of the 5 protagonists is depicted realistically with characters faking pregnancy, smoking up and cheating their way to victory. It is sure to make viewers nostalgic of their college days. The music is good too; jaaniye is a delightful winner. The movie also has good background score. Ashutosh Rana, Vikram Gokhale and Sachin Khedekar have well etched characters and do full justice with their flawless portrayals.
Of the youngsters, Arjan Bajwa has done a remarkable job and his good looks are sure to earn him female fans. Gul portrays her magnanimous and idealistic character effortlessly. Sikandar is very comfortable in front of the camera and should have made his debut with this movie as his performance leaves a good impression.
Uvika does not have much to do except look good. Alekh Sangal is quite a comic talent.
The only drawback of the movie is that it drags in the second half and they could have done without most of the drama, making it only two hours long!
Summer 2007 is worth watching once and is your best bet at the cinema this weekend.
