De Taali is the story of three best friends – Abhi (Aftab Shivdasani), Paglu (Riteish Deshmukh) and Amu (Ayesha Takia). Abhi is the son of rich businessman played by Anupam Kher who gives his son immense money and hopes that he will turn up to work some day. Despite being grown up hulks, the three youngsters still hangout in their tree house and take off for all expense paid holidays to different parts of the world.
Only problem is that Abhi keeps falling in and out of love. At last count he has had 31 girlfriends although he is only 26! Anyways one day Abhi confesses that he is in love with a friend and both Paglu and Amu think or rather hope that he is talking about Amu. However they are soon disappointed to find girlfriend no. 32 – Kartika (Rimii Sen) on Abhi’s arm. But this time it’s not a passing fancy – Kartika has Abhi wrapped around her little finger and they are running up the altar. Despite numerous attempts Paglu and Amu are unable to separate Kartika and Abhi. Finally when the loved up couple is about to fly to Phuket to get married, Paglu and Amu kidnap Kartika at the airport.
After having kept her under lock and key in Paglu’s home, Amu tries to help Abhi get over Kartika and make him realise that she is the one for him. In the mean time Paglu finds out the truth about Kartika – who is actually Anjali and has a list of broken hearted men behind her. And just when he is about to unveil the truth about Kartika/Anjali to Abhi, she escapes and gets to Abhi before his friends can.
Will he believe his friends or fall for Kartika is what the rest of the film is about.

Aftab, back after a long time, has done a good job. Especially his scenes when he falls hopelessly in love with his girlfriends is hilarious. He is one of the few actors who has been able to share comic screen space with Riteish in the recent past and still hold his own. Riteish is great although it does feel that the director hasn’t used him to the best of his abilities in the film. Ayesha Takia sadly is overshadowed by the boys in the first half and Rimii Sen in the second. Rimii does deserve a mention as she has done a great job as a money grabbing girlfriend. A definite step up for her from her recent films.
