Movie Review:Haal - E - Dil

Behaal – ye – Dil

Indya.com Rating: 2/5

Cast: Adhyan Suman, Nakuul Mehta, Amita Pathak, Tanuja

Director: Anil Devgan

Haal – E – Dil is a totally confusing story about Sanjana (Amita Pathak) and Rohit (Adhyan Suman) who are in love with one another. But somewhere along the way in walks Shekhar (Nakuul) who thinks he can charm any girl he meets. On his way to Kalka he meets Sanjana and decides she is the woman of his dreams. From singing to her in a train to ensuring that he hides her ticket so she has no choice but to get off the train so he can accompany her and thereby have more time to spend with her.

However, Sanjana and Rohit on the other hand were madly in love only to face opposition from Rohit’s father. Unable to convince the family that the two genuinely want to be together, Rohit decides to have sleeping pills to convince his father that he is serious about his love for Sanjana – obviously this can only happen in Bollywood! However, the overdose results in Rohit’s death leaving Sanjana disillusioned with life which makes things even more difficult for Shekhar when he tries to woo her.

Will he succeed is what the story is all about.

All three debutants – Adhayan, Nakuul and Amita – needed the storyline to be much tighter. Adhayan definitely stood out the most of the three in his acting and performance. Nakuul needs to head to acting school and learn to breathe between his sentences. Amita whose dad, Kumar Mangat, is the producer of the film has to lose that frown before anything else if she wants to make it here.

All in all Haal e Dil seemed like a mélange of DDLJ and Jab We Met thrown in with a couple of sappy lines that made most in the audience sigh… and not out of emotions but due to the poor lack of originality. And that sadly is the trend of the entire film – the same ol’ boy – girl love story just with debutants this time around!
