Kabir (Imran) kidnaps Sonia (Minissha) and leaves a set of clues for her uber rich father Vikrant Raina (Sanjay) to find her while he threatens and makes him dance to his tunes. Kabir is doing all this to take revenge for the way Raina ill-treated him in the past. Raina ropes in security agent Irrfan (Rahul Dev) to solve the case but they are unable to outsmart Kabir. Then Raina takes matters into his own hands to rescue Sonia.
Imran Khan is brilliant as Kabir and looks very hot and fits the role to the T. He is effortlessly wicked and clever. There are layers to this kidnapper; he has a heart and a conscience and he is not immune to pleasures of the flesh. Catch him stealing glances at Sonia's cleavage and falling into her seductive trap. Imran is the main reason to watch this movie. He is very agile and his movements in the action scenes are fluid.
Sanjay Dutt is the other reason you should see this movie. He matches Imran who is half his age, step for step in the action sequences and is as charming and vulnerable as ever. He transforms from a calculative businessman to a helpless father who leaves no stone unturned to ensure his daughter's safety.
Minissha's Sonia wears shreds for clothes! Barring the Hey ya song with plenty of hot pants and bikini changes, she has worn about 4-5 tiny costumes in the film and looks particularly hot in the black tracks and tube top and the white bikini. Her performance is alright. I don't understand why she tries to outsmart Kabir.
Vidya Malvade looks more like Minissha's sister than her mother and I think the mother-daughter have a cleavage competition between them. Vidya looks pretty and acting wise, she is decent. Rahul Dev is kinda lost.
The song Mausam has been shot beautifully and the location is breath-taking. Except Mausam, Hey Ya and Mit Jaye, the music is jarring. The background score is good though. The dialogue is trite.
The action sequences and chases, especially the one where Raina rushes to Panvel Station and when Kabir enters Raina's house are fun to watch because of the thrill factor and you wonder how Sanjay Dutt did it! Hats off to him! The first half is fun and fast but the second half is lengthy and predictable (I figured the identity of the guy in the disco). Also the jail sequence is silly. Sanjay Gadhvi's style and glamour quotient is high intact but the story could have been tighter.
Kidnap is a masala flick and if you leave your brains at home, you will not be disappointed. With Kidnap Imran deservedly adds to his fan following and I can't wait to see his next flick. Here is a versatile actor in the making. Watch it for Imran Khan and the very likeable Sanjay Dutt.
