Movie Review: Team: The Force

Rating: 0.5/5

Though the movie is showing at multiplexes but the shows are cancelled as they don’t have an audience. The screening that I attended had five people. Four were seeing the movie to write a review and the other was a theatre actor watching it ‘just like that’. The manager had to be forced to play the movie for us. To save costs, even the AC was running on low power and I had to fan myself.

Anyway, getting to Team, it is directed by Ajay Chandhok whose ‘credentials’ include Kisse Pyar Karoon (forgotten), Khalbali: Fun Unlimited (not released as yet) and Nehla Pe Dehla ( people wondered why Saif had such a release after Omkara; the movie had a 90’s feel)

Sohail Khan, Vrajesh Hirjee, Yash Tonk play three friends who want to make it big as musicians. They have Khulbushan Kharbanda as their foster father. Khulbushan gets threatened by the local don, played by Sayaji Shinde. He is an extortionist. The three rise to the occasion and turn the tables on Sayaji, by kidnapping his sister Amrita and asking for ransom. And yes, they forget all about their music career.

Nothing about the movie is worth remembering. It has cheap humour revolving around the anatomy of a woman. The dialogues are banal and so passé. As a friend pointed out, this is the kind of film that David Dhawan used to make. He has sort of matured but his chief assistant director still makes those types of films that are released years after they are ready.

The music is bad. Aarti Chhabria shows off her assets in a cameo. The action is laughable. The acting is bad.

The second half does have a few funny scenes. Actually you don’t know what else to do but laugh at the movie.

So Team is definitely not worth seeing. Thank God the strike has been called off and we will get a chance to see good movies again.
