Chat with Sophie Choudry

She is defnitely the most stylist woman in the music world. VJ Sophie has the voice, attitude and is a bundle of fun! Know more about her personally in this lively chat.

indya: Hi all, welcome to a chat with Sophie Choudry! Win her autographed T Shirt and CDs... Ask her questions that makes her want to say more.

sophie_choudry: Hi all! Really excited to be here... Really a rare thing that I get to do so. Hurray!

tommcat: Your father adored Sophia Loren, hence came your name. Did he want to shape your career too?
sophie_choudry: Ha! Not sure if my father wanted to do it then, but I am sure he must be really proud of this now.

guest94: What was it like to be the only Indian in your college?
sophie_choudry: This was the time when I was in Paris. It was exciting, challenging and hopefully I changed their perception about Indians.

charu_grl04: Hi Sophie, how are you? This is Charu and want to tell you that I like your smile.
sophie_choudry: A smile says a lot about a person and I am glad you like my smile.

tommcat: In Shaadi No.1 you worked with some leading names, how was the experience?
sophie_choudry: It was great fun. Enjoyed shooting. Some of them were my friends. Got to learn a lot about Masala films without much pressure. An intereesting tidbit: We had to shoot a song in Italy with an Italian crowd and there were nine of us doing the desi Bollywood song! Sure the Italians would never forget this.

tommcat: How was it working with Shweta Shetty and Alisha Chenai, when you were young?
sophie_choudry: Real wonderful. Shwetha and Alisha were wonderful. For me it was a great experience at that age. Today when I look back at Johny Joker with Shweta, I find it very sweet and yeah a bit embarrassing.

guest94: Why did you change your name from Sophia to Sophie?
sophie_choudry: Sophie is the name my friends and my family use. Also because it is less common in India so stuck to it. Fortunately in the world of television, there is only one Sophie!

manibhati: Aapka career kaise start hua? Kya aapne pehle se hi soch rakha tha ki aap ye sab karogi?
sophie_choudry: I always wanted to be a singer, but never knew how to go about it. Came to India and Destiny took it's course. Two things gave me a lot of boost in India; one My band Sansara and second by winning the MTV VJ Hunt. Hardwork, dedicatiion and talent are the way for success, though at times it may take time.

tommcat: You won the 'Most Stylish Female in Music(2004)' How did you feel?
sophie_choudry: I felt really great winning it. It gave me an identity. For me being a Pop Singer is not only being just a singer, but it's being a complete package.

tommcat: I read somewhere that you were a bright student. When did you get diverted from studies to take up your dreams?
sophie_choudry: I loved studying and I never diverted from it. I have completed Bachelors in European Politics and French. Pursued my ambition sideways. Infact when my mom wanted me to bunk school, I would say no.

sophie_choudry: Thank you so much. Hope you like my three releases this year; Speed, Agar and Ali Bagh.

guest79: What do you enjoy more singing or VJing?
sophie_choudry: Anyday singing. VJing is a fun job, but singing is my soul. So no doubt about it.

guest87: If given a chance would you take part in Celebrity Big Brother?
sophie_choudry: No I wouldn't. I really value my privacy and I don't like sharing toilets with people I don't know!

nampri: Sophie what is the secret of your charming figure?
sophie_choudry: I don't believe in crash dieting. I believe in working out consistently and eating a balanced diet. If you have curves, don't hide them!

guest122: You look beautiful in your album Bad Boy. It was rocking and awesome. So wat are your plans for films? Are you doing any?
sophie_choudry: Thank you so much. I am glad that you loved it as much I did. Lookout for my song in my forthcoming release Agar.

tommcat: What were your dreams when you were young?
sophie_choudry: My dream since childhood was to enter Bollywood. Whenever I was naughty, mom used to tell me that she would fly from London (with me) and drop me in the midst of Bollywood. Never knew my dream would become true. I used to pretend being Neelam amd make my friends pretend being Govind!

2050: How did you feel when you launched your first album?
sophie_choudry: It was a Dream come true. My Naani had this dream when I was just born.

manibhati: Your song Ek Pardesi Mera Dil Le Gaya was really too good and so was your dance also.
sophie_choudry: Thank you so much. I am sure you would like my dance in my new album, which will be out in September. Hope to dance my way back into your hearts.

guest94: Have you acted in any South Indian movies?
sophie_choudry: No not yet. May be I'll do them next year.

2050: How would you describe yourself in one word?
sophie_choudry: Glamorous. Because to me, it's a combination of style, confidence and intelligence.

guest79: If you were marooned on an island, what is the one thing you would want with you?
sophie_choudry: My ipod.

manibhati: You believe in love?
sophie_choudry: Absolutely I am a diehard romantic!

manibhati: Who's your favourite singer, actor, actress, composer?
sophie_choudry: Singer: Beyonce and Sonu Nigam. Actor: Hrithik and Decaprio. Actress: Rani Mukherjee. Music Composer: Tough to choose between Rehman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

2050: Tell us one thing about yourself that your fans don't know.
sophie_choudry: As a child I was fascinated by the Indo-American culture. I used to think I was Pocahontas.

guest116: Would you like to do playback singing for Bollywood movies?
sophie_choudry: Yes, but not as a career option.

guest94: What happened to your band Sansara?
sophie_choudry: We split six years ago. Couldn't get along, but really proud of the band that we were then.

tommcat: Which is your favourite song from your albums?
sophie_choudry: Ek pardesi mera dil le gaya...

2050: When do you feel low and what makes you happy?
sophie_choudry: Good music or a good movie and a nice chocolate mouffle. Incase I still feel low, then a nice big hug from my mom

tommcat: What other languages you can speak fluently?
sophie_choudry: French, Italian (in which I used to be fluent), English, Urdu and Hindi. I am dying to know Arabic as well.

nampri: What is your beauty secret?
sophie_choudry: A clear mind, happy at heart, keeping skin clean and yeah, same old story of drink a lot of water.

guest85: Given a chance would you like to act in Ekta Kapoor's serials?
sophie_choudry: Hindi Serials are not for me. I go for the trendy and modern ones.

guest90: Do you have any siblings, more beautiful people like you?
sophie_choudry: Yes, I have an older brother. When he was young, people used to say that he was a combo of Salman and Sanjay Dutt. According to me, the most beautiful member in my family is my four year old niece Laila.

guest87: Which is your all time favourite movie?
sophie_choudry: Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Notting Hill.

guest140: If you get a chance to act in one of the Arabic movies, will you?
sophie_choudry: Oh my god! When I'm in Middle East, people often mistake me to be a Lebanese. Why not, if given a chance might do it. But my dream is to do a french film.

guest90: What is the mantra of your life?
sophie_choudry: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of dreams.

2050: if given a chance what would be the one thing that you would like to change about yourself?
sophie_choudry: I am too finicky and a perfectionist, so would like to be less demanding.

2050: Which is your next movie?
sophie_choudry: Either Vikram Bhatt's Speed or Ananth Mahadevan's Agar.

guest87: who is the one person you are close to?
sophie_choudry: My mom... She is my best friend, my dinning companion, my shoulder to cry and the one to hug me.
